Volvo Ocean Race, previous named Whitbread Round the World Race, is a boat race around the world that is held every third year. The race is decided during 9 or 10 legs. Since 2001, one of the European stops have been Gothenburg.
Our task was to build a WiFi network for to the race village and several different sponsor zones that was erected in Gothenburg. We also built a wireless link network and a comm radio network with a repeater system that provided coverage all over the city. TPO was also trusted with the role as frequency coordinator and given the task of ICT managers, thus providing technical project management for IT and communication. The construction around the competition occupied 7-8 of our specialists for a month. The assignment as ICT-manager lasted throughout the year.
